The next batch of A Chairs will include a modified top detail, designed for greater comfort when resting the arm — a small but important refinement developed through use. Pieces from the Trannon range can also be made to order. For dining chairs, these are produced as sets of four or more. Please enquire for further details, availability and pricing.
Public & Commercial Seating
Public seating is of particular interest to us. We have extensive experience designing and making furniture for hospitals, retail spaces, public and private reception areas, working environments and other interiors where comfort, durability, interest and human interaction are valued.
Commissions & Collaborations
We also design furniture and products for companies and organisations whose values align with our own. Commissions are welcome. Please get in touch to discuss a project, an order, or a possible collaboration.
NEW - A CHAIR 3
Years of daily use around the dining table since the first version in 2012 confirmed the chair’s qualities and suggested where it could be refined.
It introduced our tubular rivet construction — a method of joining timber that allows its tensile strength to be used more fully than conventional joints permit, and one particularly suited to steam-bent components.
People naturally turn and rest an arm across the back. The top rail was reshaped in response, improving comfort. At the same time, the making process was adjusted to give greater control over the bent forms and their order of assembly. The difference is subtle but clear: the chair becomes calmer, more assured and more comfortable.

ROXi CHAIR
The A Chair is available with or without a latex-filled felted wool upholstered pad. With upholstered seat and back, the price is £2,400 including VAT, plus delivery.
What makes the chair work so well is also what gives it its quiet originality. Where the X members cross, they twist to pass one another like dancers. Their free movement gives the chair a subtle rocking motion, making it exceptionally comfortable and reminding us that we, too, are flexible structures.
The A Chair takes the steam bending of ash to another level, extending the environmental benefits of its predecessors. Its movement is made possible by David Colwell’s unique tubular rivet construction.
